2. AI Features and Third-Party AI Data Sharing
NutriCise AI includes AI-powered features that may help users with nutrition analysis, food ratings, meal suggestions, macro targets, exercise recommendations, daily summaries, and AI coaching.
When you choose to use an AI feature, NutriCise AI may send certain information to a third-party AI service in order to generate a response.
Third-Party AI Service Used
NutriCise AI uses OpenAI to provide AI-generated responses. User requests are routed through our secure Supabase Edge Function backend before being sent to OpenAI. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default for business/API customers unless the customer opts in.
Data That May Be Sent to OpenAI
Depending on the AI feature you choose to use, the following data may be sent to OpenAI through our Supabase backend:
Your written goal or fitness/nutrition objective
Food names, calories, protein, carbs, and fat values
Exercise names, duration, intensity, and calories burned
Meal descriptions
Food or nutrition label text recognized from images
Images or image-derived data when you choose to analyze a meal photo
Health-related context you choose to use for personalization, such as workout activity, sleep, or energy information
Your question or chat message to the AI coach
Relevant app context needed to generate a useful response
NutriCise AI does not intentionally send unnecessary personal identifiers to OpenAI. However, if you type personal information into an AI prompt, upload an image containing personal information, or include personal details in your goals, that information may be included in the AI request.
User Permission Before AI Sharing
Before NutriCise AI sends personal data to a third-party AI service, the app will explain:
What data may be sent
That the data may be sent to OpenAI
That the data is sent through Supabase Edge Functions
That the AI response is generated by a third-party AI provider
That the user can decline and avoid using AI features
AI features are optional. If you do not consent to AI data sharing, you should not use AI-powered features that require sending data to OpenAI.
Apple’s App Review Guidelines require apps to clearly disclose third-party AI data sharing and obtain permission before sharing personal data with third-party AI services.

Save and sync food, exercise, and goal data
Provide calorie and macro tracking
Generate nutrition targets
Generate workout recommendations

4. Third-Party Services We Use
NutriCise AI may use third-party services to operate the app.
Supabase
We use Supabase for backend infrastructure, authentication, database storage, and Edge Functions. Supabase may process account data, saved app data, goals, food logs, exercise logs, and AI request routing. Supabase explains that its services involve the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in connection with its platform.
Supabase Edge Functions are used to securely call OpenAI without placing the OpenAI API key inside the app.
OpenAI
We use OpenAI to generate AI-powered responses for nutrition, food, workout, and coaching features. Data is sent to OpenAI only when needed to provide AI functionality and after user permission is requested in the app.
OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default for business/API users unless the organization explicitly opts in.
Firebase
NutriCise AI may use Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication and Firestore, for account authentication, cloud data storage, and syncing. Firebase provides privacy and security information for developers using its services.
Apple HealthKit
If you grant permission, NutriCise AI may read selected Apple Health data. HealthKit permissions are controlled by Apple’s system permission prompts and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings or the Health app.
StoreKit and App Store Purchases
NutriCise AI uses Apple StoreKit to process subscriptions, purchases, free trials, offer codes, and subscription entitlements. Payment information is handled by Apple, not directly by NutriCise AI.
Google Mobile Ads
If ads are enabled in the app, Google Mobile Ads may collect or process advertising-related data according to Google’s policies and your device settings. Ads may be personalized or non-personalized depending on your choices, device settings, and applicable law.
Open Food Facts
If you search for foods or scan barcodes, NutriCise AI may retrieve product and nutrition information from Open Food Facts or a similar public food database.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share data only in the following situations:
With Supabase to store and sync app data
With Firebase to support account and cloud-sync functionality
With OpenAI when you choose to use AI-powered features and consent to AI data sharing
With Apple to process subscriptions and purchases
With Google Mobile Ads if ads are shown in the app
With food database providers when searching or scanning foods
When required by law, legal process, or to protect app security
With service providers that help operate the app under appropriate privacy and security obligations
6. AI Consent and Control
AI features are optional. You can choose whether to use features such as:
AI food rating
AI meal analysis
AI macro generation
AI workout planning
AI coach/chat
AI daily summaries
AI image analysis
Before using AI features that send personal data to OpenAI, NutriCise AI will ask for your permission. If you decline, AI-powered features that require third-party AI processing may not function, but non-AI tracking features may still be available where supported.
You should avoid entering highly sensitive information into AI prompts unless you are comfortable with that information being processed to generate a response.
7. Health and Wellness Disclaimer
NutriCise AI provides general nutrition, fitness, and wellness information. It does not replace a doctor, registered dietitian, nutritionist, personal trainer, or other qualified professional.
You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before making major changes to your diet, exercise routine, medications, or health plan, especially if you:

8. Notifications and Reminders
NutriCise AI may send notifications if you allow them, including:
Meal logging reminders
Workout reminders
Motivation messages
Goal reminders
Daily summaries
Achievement notifications
You can manage notification permissions in iOS Settings.
9. Referral Features
NutriCise AI may include referral features that allow users to share invite codes or links. Referral codes may be used to track signups, rewards, badges, leaderboard status, or eligibility for Apple-approved promotional offers.
Referral codes do not directly unlock paid digital features unless redeemed through Apple-approved subscription mechanisms such as App Store offer codes or StoreKit promotional offers.
10. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Promo Codes
NutriCise AI may offer paid subscriptions or premium features through Apple In-App Purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple.
If NutriCise AI provides promo codes, offer codes, or subscription discounts, they must be redeemed through Apple’s official App Store or StoreKit redemption flow. The app does not use custom codes to directly unlock paid features outside Apple’s In-App Purchase system.
11. Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data. However, no system can guarantee complete security.
Data may be stored locally on your device and/or synced to cloud services such as Supabase or Firebase. Supabase states that it provides tools such as access policies to help protect data, and Supabase reports SOC 2 Type 2 compliance for its platform.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
